Waistline Horizon Lines (2020)
Painted at the time of the 2020 Coronavirus outbreak, drawing a correlation between femininity and the landscape, this series uses a selection of waistlines to introduce places of respite that can be found in gazing upon horizon lines. The horizon line provides a focal point which one can move towards, perhaps looking at the future. The land of Dartmoor has proven inspirational as the views are so vast; laid out with jolting hills and dipping valleys. Not only that the hills envelop their visitors providing a sense of security just as a loved one's arms might. Notably, furthering the female persona connection, No.1, is made up of the top portion of an apron circa 1950s, calling upon reminiscences and souvenirs of a maternal nature.
