Project PINK is a performance art piece, a group activity, and a magic moment rolled into one.
Project PINK's debut was on September 10, 2011. It took place in an intimate setting with a group of ladies celebrating life.

Concept:
Pink balloons and sharpie markers mingle in a area awaiting people to possess them for a brief, fleeting moment and ponder pink. This moment transforms into a scene charged with one of the best feelings on earth, acceptance. Then when freed into the sky in unison, a sense of wonder blankets the group.

Inspiration:

This happening is a Coming of Age Tribute to Pink or if you like a Non-Tribute to Pink. Inspired by my work, it is a contemplation of femininity and its evasive characteristics. One of my most passionate interests lies in our search of self, identity, and strength. Growing up I was never found of pink (a secret I have come to learn is shared among many women). I avoided pink for much of my life, just like my Southern accent. I opted for yellow even white. One day, at one of those mile-markers we experience in life, the cake ordered with blush accents to match the accents in my dress was delivered and I was so crushed, devastated. My dear friend declared to me "it is not pink! It is blush Caroline." A few years later my friend finally confessed, "it was pink" she said. I knew it.

I just did not want to be like all the other girls...why pink?...do I have to like pink? What if I like blue?...what does that mean? So, I wandered through the years until it dawned upon me; I do have a lot of feminine characteristics. So does that mean that I am pink, that it is okay to like pink? Working through the pink while coming to terms with the pink stereotype, I got a pink phone, pink sunglasses (the only darn ones not to break). Embracing pink, coming into the pink has been a valuable lesson. I am learning how to appreciate my pinkness as well as my non-pinkness. At all ages, I encourage women (and men) to accept their pink; we are each so unique yet so empowered when we pull together in unison to appreciate who we are as human beings.
